5 Questions to Help You Network Effectively at Your Next Conference

It's conference season and this is your chance to make genuine connections.

While you're preparing what to bring with you, it's also helpful to prepare for the conversations you'll have.

This is an opportunity to find mutual interests, ask for advice, learn about a person's career and experiences, and have fun.

To help make the conversation productive and enjoyable, listen with purpose. Ask yourself, "What can I learn from this?"

Here are five questions you can use in your upcoming networking conversations:

1. What has been the highlight of your week?

2. What led you to the career you have today?

3. What advice would you give to someone [going through whatever stage you're in now: starting your career/becoming a new manager/transitioning industries]?

4. What do you do to take care of yourself and stay resilient when things are overwhelming at work and in the world?

5. What is something you'd like to learn (or learn more about)?

Wishing you more joyful conversations and meaningful connections at the networking reception!
